🥜 In a nutshell, how does AiBrow work?
Developers install the AiBrow browser extension to access the Prompt API, where you can write agents for web apps and try different small models. End users install the same AiBrow browser extension to use local AI pre-canned skills, plus any AI features built-in to their web apps. The extension download includes a default SLM (currently SmolLM2)
✨ How does AiBrow differ from Google's Gemini Nano?
Gemini Nano is a small languange model that is only available in Chrome. AiBrow on the other hand, is a browser extension (not a model) that enables other small language models (including Google's Gemma 2) to be used in any browser that supports extensions, including Chrome, Edge, Opera, Vivalvi, Brave and Wavebox.
🚀 How good are on-device models?
Despite having a fraction of the parameters and training of a large model, the performance of small models is impressive. Other benefits of local on-device models include ease of deployment, enhanced user privacy, improved cost-efficiencies, and offline functionality.

Absolutely. Aibrow is open source and free, so there are ZERO charges for developing on the platform or using the Chrome extension. No Keys, servers or cloud APIs needed.
